Faith Farr

Faith FarrFaith Farr is a cello teacher and free-lance player in the Twin Cities area of Minneapolis / St. Paul, Minnesota. With more than 20 years of teaching experience, Faith welcomes students of all ages (pre-school to retirement) and levels (never-ever to concerto). She has special expertise in helping students who are eager but have difficulty with basics.

Faith provides students with a wide range of cello experiences:

  • solo performances several times a year
  • participation in cello ensembles
  • thorough instruction in music reading and theory through her self-published string-based curriculum.

Faith teaches at the MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis and her home studio in North Oaks. She is active on the boards of the Suzuki Association of Minnesota (SAM), and the Minnesota String And Orchestra Teachers Association (MNSOTA). She has published articles in the American Suzuki Journal and in String Notes, the Journal of MNSOTA. In 1996, Faith was honored by MN ASTA with their Master Teacher Award. She has been a guest clinician for many programs including the American Suzuki Institute at Stevens Point, Wisconsin.

Faith is a founding member of the Minnesota Sinfonia, a professional orchestra that specializes in school and community programs.

Her education includes degrees from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and the University of Minnesota, and additional study in Suzuki pedagogy and Dalcroze pedagogy.
